PopcornLang is designed with a privacy-first philosophy. We do not collect, store, sell, or trade any personal data. Specifically:

  • We do not collect personal identifiers such as your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
  • We do not track, collect, or store your Netflix browsing history, password, or account details.
  • We do not monitor what specific videos, movies, or shows you watch.

2. Data Stored Locally

Any preferences or content you import into PopcornLang is kept entirely on your local device. This includes:

  • Your custom subtitle files (such as SRT or VTT files) that you upload into the player.
  • Your extension configuration, such as chosen languages, subtitle positioning, text sizes, and font styles.
  • Your translation history or saved vocabulary cards (if applicable).

This data never leaves your device and is discarded when you clear your browser data or uninstall the extension.

3. Translation API Requests

When you use the hover-to-translate or subtitle translation features, the selected text is transmitted to our secure translation API proxy to provide real-time translation.

  • These requests are anonymous and contain only the text snippet and target language.
  • We do not associate translation requests with any personal user accounts, device identifiers, or IP addresses.
  • No translation request data is kept, logged, or analyzed for advertising purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

PopcornLang operates as an overlay on top of third-party streaming services like Netflix. This Privacy Policy only applies to PopcornLang. Your use of Netflix and other third-party platforms is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

5. Children's Privacy

Since we do not collect any personal information, we do not knowingly solicit or collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our tool or for legal compliance. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
